The “Tamara Attempts to Hold A Ridiculous Amount of Books” Haul

I always tell myself I’m going to start buying less books, because there are ARCs and the library and books I already own but that usually lasts about two weeks, as you will see from the amount of books I have to show off in today’s haul… Then again, I haven’t posted a book haul since the end of November, and it’s the beginning of April so considering its been four months this isn’t that bad, right? (haha nope it’s terrible and I’ve run out of shelf space)

I Was Given These (So They Aren’t My Fault)

At the end of December I participated in The Broke and the Bookish Secret Santa, and my Secret Santa sent me copies of Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater. This are both uber popular books I hadn’t read yet so that was exciting!

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith was sent to me by Quirk Books along with a bunch of posters and swag for their various books.

I had the luck this year to win not one but two 2016 debut preorder giveaways. From Jamie @ Books and Ladders I won A Study In Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro. I read ASIC in fall and absolutely adored it. I look forward to reading it in finished hardcover format. Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles gave me a copy of The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig, a book I likewise enjoyed. This one also has glorious maps. Yes, mapS, plural. I am so in love with it.

All of the ARCs

Over the summer a new bookstore moved into the space right next to my school, and I’ve been hanging out there during my free period every day since fall. It’s an adult bookstore, but they were somehow sent a box of YA ARCs and the owner was kind enough to pass them onto me to read and review. Thanks to Subtext Books and Harper Teen!

Behind the Canvas by Alexander Vance and Goldfish by Nat Luurtsema were sent to me by the marvelous MC @ Blame It on the Books who picked them up for me at a convention she attended. I hadn’t heard of Goldfish before, but she grabbed it specially for me because it features my sport, synchronized swimming! I’ve never seen synchro in a book before so this is super exciting. Thank you MC!

Releases, Releases, Releases

Last we come to the new releases: All the fresh-off-the-press books that were far too tempting for me not to preorder/buy. I always think fall is the super book release heavy time, and is, but boy does winter have some great offerings as well. Sequels galore!

All the new (beautiful hardcover) releases I bought/had preordered for me (thanks Mom) in the last few months are…

Have you read any of these books? Did you acquire any new books recently?

  1. AHHH THIS IS THE BEST HAUL OF EVER!! *shrieks* And omg The Girl From Everywhere basically stole my heart with all those maps. <33 Sadly, though, I read the kindle version and GAH. NOPE. I need to buy the hardcover ASAP so I can pet the maps in their full glory. :')
(And isn't This Savage Song just THE BEST. AHHHHHHH.)
Also, pfft, who needs restraint when it comes to books? It could be worse right? We could be collecting, like, pinecones or something useless. *pets all books and hugs them*

Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

  2. Wow, you have a lot of amazing novels! That’s great. I really want to read A Study in Charlotte – I’m glad to hear you liked it!!

p.s. I’ll add your email to my blogger list for LGBT+ blog tours. Right now all the emails are going to all the bloggers, so you might get emails about adult books (sorry about this, but just ignore them).

  3. This is a seriously great haul! There are so many books on my TBR and ones that I haven’t even heard of before. I’m really curious about Behind the Canvas. It looks really good. I totally understand not being able to stick to a book buying ban. I have broken mine too many times over the last couple months. It’s also really hard when there are so many great preorder gifts.

  4. so many arcs you lucky duck! but of course you deserve them, your blog is super! oooh a bookish secret santa, THAT SOUNDS SO FUN!
I love hauls, this one was especially scrumptious ❤️❤️

  5. Out of all of these, I read a whopping.. two books: Anna & the French Kiss + A Study in Charlotte! I do own an ARC of The Girl From Everywhere, but I’d prefer the FC since the ARC doesn’t have the maps /:. I also own a FC of Passenger! I’m looking forward to Dreamology and This Savage Song; I’m glad you enjoyed the latter! I hope you enjoy the majority of these 🙂

    1. YES the maps are so amazing, I would recommend reading a finished copy. (Maybe you can get it from your local library?) This Savage Song is a new favorite of mine and I hope to read Dreamology soon because I’ve heard a lot about it. Thank you Jess!

  6. So much books you have accumulated. I hope you enjoy Dreamology because I read it and I really liked it. The only books that I’m really looking forward to are Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians and A Study of Charlotte.

    1. I’m glad you’re looking forward to AVtEV and ASIC! The Alcatraz series is a childhood favorite of mine (+ it introduced me to my favorite author) and I still think it is amazing, and the new edition are SO NICE. ASIC is so far my favorite book this year! I hope you enjoy them both. <3

  7. your haul is wonderful (and also not THAT large considering the last was from november). it’s so exciting that a bookstore opened up right next to your school! have you tried stacking all these books together? THE STRUGGLE WOULD BE REAL.

  8. Wow that’s a lot of books! I can’t buy all of this, plus I don’t live in the US so I don’t get a lot of ARCs, but it’s really good because I’m a reaaaally slow reader.
Anyway, I hope you love all the books you haven’t read yet out of these! <3
