Doorstep Delights // Quirksgiving + More!

doorstepdelights2

Doorsteps Delights is a feature I’m borrowing from Alexandra @ Twirling Pages in which I’ll be sharing things I recently received in the mail!

I’ve seen many people say that once they became a blogger they started getting a lot more snail mail. Well, I’ve been a blogger for a while, but before the last few months I never noticed much of an increase. But, well, this month I noticed a large increase. I got a lot of stuff! (I hope you’re ready for all this)

Quirksgiving!

quirksgivingThe biggest (by far) package I’ve received lately is this one from Quirk Books. Every year they host an event called “quirksgiving” (it’s hosted around thanksgiving) where if you complete a list of challenges you win prizes! I completed all the challenges (go me!) so I got alllllll the loot. In my package was the movie edition of the book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith, a super cute “I 💗 books” tote, a Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children calendar, and various bookmarks/postcards/posters/buttons. I was also sent an ebook of Princesses Behaving Badly by Linda Rodriguez McRobbie. Thank you Quirk Books!

Books + Magazines

Here I have the usual haul of monthly Wired magazines. The Star Wars cover (which folds out into an awesome three page masterpiece) was for December 2015’s issue which, of course, had a bunch of articles about Star Wars. The other one, with Leonardo DiCaprio staring at you from the cover, is January 2016’s issue.

inquisitorsmarksmallThe one book I have here today (well, besides what I got for quirksgiving) is The Inquisitor’s Mark by Diane K Salerni! This is the second book in The Eighth Day trilogy, and I’d already read it, (you might remember it appearing in my favorite books of 2015) but the hardcover was on Book Outlet for three dollars and I couldn’t resist the chance to own the full trilogy because I love it.

Postcards + Bookmarks

I love postcards and I was sent two super lovely ones! First, Elise Kova sent me one for her book, Air Awakens. I haven’t read it yet, but I do have a copy for review so I’ll probably be reading it 16debutswagnext month. The other postcard is from Alexandra at Twirling Pages. Isn’t that penguin illustration the cutest? I sent her back another postcard, so I guess that means we’re pen pals now? 😉

A little while ago I won a giveaway from Jamie at Books and Ladders for a pre-order of a 2016 debut and she also sent me a bunch of bookmarks and swag for other 2016 debut novels! The A Study In Charlotte bookmarks were sent to me by the book’s author, the lovely Brittany Cavallaro. I’ll be keeping one for my self and giving the others away to some of the people in my book club.

Pre-Order Swag

agosandtgfepreorderLast but not least, one of my favorite categories, pre-order promotion swag! I would pre-order books for myself anyways because I love doing it, (it’s like a present to my future self!) but these promotions are definitely an added bonus. I preordered A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab, the sequel to A Darker Shade of Magic, and received these beautiful character art cards. (these are now framed in my room, as they should be) I also won a pre-order of The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig, and was sent these awesome maps and a signed bookmark!

Have you received any cool mail lately? Tell me what it was in the comments!

And the AGOS cards ARE AWESOME. I have them myself. (Though, I took mine apart badly, and they have white dots. Sigh. My fault entirely.)
