Top Ten Early 2016 Releases

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is “Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2016” and I have got to say I was so ready for this topic. There are so many releases that I am amazingly excited for. I also decided to separate this list into two halves, sequels and series starters/standalone novels, because otherwise this list would be entirely made up of sequels, honestly.

Series Starters + Standalones

#1 – Passenger by Alexandra Bracken (January 5th)

I love Bracken’s The Darkest Minds series and I love time travel books. Plus this one has a gorgeous cover and Bracken is coming to Saint Paul on the #PassTruthTour! What could be better?

#2 – A Study In Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro (March 1st)

I’ve actually already read this book but I love it so much that I am anticipating the day that other people can read it and that I can hold a beautiful finished copy in my hands. It is SO good.

#3 – The Siren by Kiera Cass (January 26th)

The Selection series by Kiera Cass is not my favorite (I have quite a few issues with it) but I do find it fun to read, so I do want to read her new standalone novel. Also, a story about a siren does sound pretty cool…

#4 – The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson (May 3rd)

I loved Matson’s Since You’ve Been Gone (plus I meet her and she’s so sweet!) but unfortunately I have yet to read anything else she’s written. Though I am SUPER excited for her upcoming book because political drama and dog walking and would you just look at that cover? I’m in love.

#5 – The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye (May 17th)

I don’t know as much about this book what I do know makes me want it so much. Fantasy Russia! Magical tournament! Court drama! It sounds great.

#6 – A Gathering of Shadows (A Darker Shade of Magic #2) by VE Schwab (February 23rd)

First of all, I love this cover. Second of all, this series’ magic system is awesome PLUS this second book has a magic tournament! I’ve already preordered it, because the author is having an awesome pre order promotion where you get art cards of the some of the characters which is so cool.

#7 – The Morrigan’s Curse (The Eighth Day #3) by Dianne K. Salerni (January 26th)

This is the third book in a not-so-popular middle grade series that I personally really like. If you’re looking for a cool middle grade urban fantasy The Eighth Day is definitely the book for you. I thought the second book was especially great, and I am so excited about the third.

#8 – The Bands of Mourning (Mistborn #6) by Brandon Sanderson (January 26th)

New Mistborn, new Brandon Sanderson book, enough said. (Have I mentioned I love Sanderson novels?)

#9 – The Winner’s Kiss (The Winner’s Trilogy #3) by Marie Rutkoski (March 1st)

The Winner’s Trilogy is just so good and that cliffhanger… I NEED this one.

#10 – Calamity (Reckoners #3) by Brandon Sanderson (February 16th)

I’ve probably talked about how I love the Reckoners series enough, but if you’re new here, Reckoners is my favorite and I’ve been anticipating the final book in the trilogy for more than a year. Can I have it now, please?
