Reads for the Holidays

holidayreads

The holidays are quickly approaching, (it’s already December! Where did the time go?) and so I thought it would be a good time to make a small list of books that I would recommend reading over the holidays. While most of these books don’t have any holiday themes or scenes contained within them at all, I feel like they all have a certain feel that lends itself to the holiday season.

#1 – The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

When I think about holiday reads I always think of The Grisha Trilogy first. It’s all very snowy and magical, and the books pair perfectly with Tchaikovsky music.

#2 – The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

The Lunar Chronicles are a series of fairy tale retellings, and I think that’s just perfect for the holiday season. It’s also a recently completed series so if you haven’t read any of the books then it’s the perfect time for a binge read!

#3 – A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab

This book is full of magic and mystery and some really great characters. I highly recommend it and I think it would be great to read this holiday season, especially since the second book is released in February!

#4 – My True Love Gave to Me by Various Authors

This book is actually holiday themed. My True Love Gave to Me is an anthology of a bunch of holiday (romance) short stories written by YA authors! It’s a really cute and fun book that I really recommend.

#5 – Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I’m not sure why I thought of this book, but I do think it would be a good read for the holidays, and is just a great book all around. I also think this book actually contains holiday scenes? I don’t know, it has been a while since I read it.

What books do you think are good reads for the holiday season?

  1. Gosh, I’m so behind on reading so many of these, especially The Lunar Chronicles. I DID try Fangirl though and *whispers* I had to skim a lot of it. But completely agree, it just has that warm, fuzzy type feel that makes it feel like a holiday read. By far my favourite is Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares, which takes place in New York at Christmas (if I remember correctly), such a lovely read if you like those adventure type treasure hunt books, but with two adorable characters who’ll you’ll spend the entire book shouting KISS HER! Great choices Tamara hopefully I can squeeze in Cinder for a read soon. Thanks for sharing <3
