I am finally, finally, FINALLY done with school. Finally. As it was, even with finals and regionals I still got a fair amount of reading done. Plus, this month I attended both Sarah J. Maas’s and Micheal Buckley’s signings at the Red Ballon.
Another few highlights of the month- my P.S. I Still Love You Bow Challenge Photo was Jenny Han approved, I had an awesome orchestra concert and I progressed through regionals and will be attending synchronized swimming Junior Olympics at the end of June!
(Also last weekend I was watching people on social media attend BEA all jealously- but we’re not gonna talk about that…)
Books I Read This Month:
#1 – Everblaze (Keeper of the Lost Cities #3) by Shannon Messenger ★★★★★
[Review] This was the best one in the series yet! I laughed, I cried, and I really need the fourth book.
#2 – Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) by Sarah J. Maas ★★★☆☆
I didn’t enjoy this nearly as much as so many people have, but it was good and I’m curious to see how the story continues. Though, I am much more interested in Celeana’s past… (So I bought the prequel novella collection)
#3 – Seven Second Delay by Tom Easton ★★☆☆☆
This was certainly interesting but very weird. It also felt like it happened but didn’t really go anywhere. All in all, meh.
#4 – Solitaire by Alice Oseman ★★★☆☆
#5 – A Wonderlandiful World (Ever After High #3) by Shannon Hale ★★★☆☆
Not nearly as good as the first two, and it didn’t really resolve any part of the trilogy… Otherwise, it was good for what it was.
#6 – Royally Lost by Angie Stanton ★☆☆☆☆
DNF. Too instalove too cheesy and the royal part just didn’t seem to play in that hugely. Just meh for me.
#7 – Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend (Broken Hearts and Revenge #1) by Katie Finn ★★★★☆
This was really good! Very cringe worthy and somewhat predictable at parts, but still good.
#8 – The Heir (The Selection #4) by Kiera Cass ★★★☆☆
I’m really conflicted about this book. There are parts I liked about Eadlyn and then there are parts I really didn’t. There were good parts but then lots of things just made me groan a lot. I’ll read the next one of course, but…
#9 – The Wrinkled Crown by Anne Nesbet ★★☆☆☆
Review to come closer to the release date.
#10 – Something Real by Heather Demetrios ★★★★★
Actual rating: 4.5 stars. This was really great. Its was better than I expected, actually, and I loved the writing style. Though I do feel a pun was missed when the book was titled “Something Real” instead of “Something Reel.” 😉
#11 – The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black ★★★★☆
Not at all what I expected but I really really liked it. It reminds me quite a lot of the Spiderwick Chronicles though definitely more grown up. Not a quick read for me but it was still great and had beautiful writing. The ending was perfect!
#12 – Tangled Webs by Lee Bross ★★☆☆☆
This was just not really at all what I wanted it to be. I was expecting some kickass blackmailing and conning but really it was more romance/historical drama.
#13 – Also Known As (Also Known As #1) by Robin Benway ★★★☆☆
This was so cute! Definitely not the book to read if you want an action-packed and suspenseful type of spy novel, but nice if you want more of a spy love story with a little bit of mystery. I’ll be sure to read the next one!
